Young People with High Cholesterol Are More Likely to Have Heard Disease at Middle-Aged

If young people discover that the cholesterol level is abnormal, they should start taking early interventions in order not to have coronary artery hardening during middle-aged which might increase the risk in getting heart disease.

We use to think that it is not important if young peoples’ cholesterol level is high, and it is never too late to seek for treatment in the future. But research has found that if young peoples’ cholesterol level is abnormal, it will be a high chance that they might get heart disease at their 40’s. Therefore, we should start control our cholesterol level as early as possible.

There’s an university research report says that since year 1985, they have done a 20 years tracking survey to around 3,200 young people with age below 30 years old from different cities in States. During the tracking period, the researchers will measure and record the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (Bad Cholesterol) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (Good Cholesterol) level. After 20 years, the researchers use X-ray tomography photography to analyze the coronary artery deposition level. The status of coronary artery is a very important index in determining the risk of heart disease.

Abnormal Cholesterol Level Causes Atherosclerosis

A study has discover that if the people who have done the survey are around age 20s and have a very high level of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, in that way chances for them to have atherosclerosis after age 45 are 44% in ratio. In the other hand, if they maintain a normal level of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, then the chances for them in having atherosclerosis is only 8% after age 45. In addition, if you maintain a low level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol when you are young, there will be a high chance in getting atherosclerosis when you are in middle-aged.

The research finding also indicates that young people with abnormal cholesterol level will be easier to get atherosclerosis in middle-aged and therefore increase the risk in having heart disease. Therefore, if young people discover that they are having abnormal cholesterol level, they should start taking early interventions in order to reduce the risk of having heart disease. In all sorts of interventions, medication might not be the best way to regulate your cholesterol level; healthy diet and strong workout are the most economical, effective and lasting way in maintaining it.
